"RARE" "RARE" "RARE" is the best way to describe this
one. A Waltham 18 size, 19 jewel, lever set, open face,
Model 1892. The MINT condition enamel dial is as good as
they get and has black 5 minute markers, 1 to 24 hour
markers, one minute slash marks, and signed "Waltham
SIDEREAL" "R A R E". Also has MINT blue spade hour and
minute whip hands. Heavy beveled glass crystal in
EXCELLENT condition!! WHAT DOES SIDEREAL MEAN: A
Sidereal day is the actual time required for the Earth
to spin on it's axis without reference to the sun. A
Sidereal day is actually 23 hours and 56 minutes. This Model 82 movement is
"GORGEOUS". BEAUTIFUL damaskeening and signed "A.W.W.
Co. Waltham, Mass., 19 Jewels, ADJUSTED 5 Positions".
Also has a diamond end stone on the balance cock,
micrometer regulator, in excellent running condition.
This "RARE" watch is housed in it's original Crescent
Watch Case Co. Nickel swing out case. I have been told
that the primary purchaser of these watches was the Royal
Canadian Engineers Corps of the Canadian Army. These
watches were placed with the Surveying units that surveyed the
Canadian west in the 1900's. A most IMPORTANT
addition to any fine Waltham collection!!!! SN 18091092
