M.I. Tobias 18s 15J 18K Gold

Here is a beautiful 18 size 15 jewel M.J. Tobias still
in good running order. The picture shows the dial to be
yellow but the entire dial is gold, and in very good
condition. It has a detached lever gilt movement key
wind and key set both from the back through the dust
cover. The dust cover is signed "M.J. TOBIAS, LIVERPOOL,
DETACHED LEVER, 15 JEWELS, HANDY, No. 12772". This
should date this timepiece between 1820 and 1868. It is
mounted in a triple hinged 18K Gold case that has engine
turning on the back with a blank area for initials. The
case shows some wear but you would too after 140 to 180
years. It takes a number 6 key to wind and set that is
NOT included. You can pick one up from your local
Jeweler. What a piece of history!!! |
